Phir Dil Do…

This is not a crappy blog on Valentine’s Day. Valentine Day was 14 days back. Today is 28th of Feb, India’s Science Day and the inaugural day of Hockey World Cup 2010!

Hero Honda started the publicity campaign with that slogan. ‘Phir Dil Do Hocky Ko’ and trust me it was really fun to watch the game. Personally I enjoyed all the 3 games that were played on the inauguration day of Hockey World Cup 2010.

The first match was between S.A. and Spain which Spain won 4-2 followed by second match between Aus and Eng which England won 3-2.

The last match of the day was one of the most awaited matches of the day as far as Indians are concerned. It was between Pakistan and India. Morning papers had already carried out interesting statements from the representatives of the two teams. But as our captain had mentioned, the one who will be able to hold the nerve will win the match, proved to be true.

And it was India who managed to hold their nerve and dominate almost the entire game with just one exception when Pakistan managed to score their 1 goal. And India won the match 4-1. Sandeep Singh’s solid drag flick was so powerful that the Pakistani goal keeper was found helpless on 2 occasions and that gave Sandeep ‘Man of the Match’ trophy.

That was an amazing win which will boost India’s confidence for next games. The group is tough with teams like Spain, England and Australia. I would wish India ‘All the Very Best’ for the tournament and hope they will do BEST!

I realized that Hockey is a real team-game where team efforts are MUST and not like cricket where individual performance overshadows the team performance!!!

This tournament is till 13th March and I hope to watch all the matches.

Phir dil do hockey ko !!!

Winds of change

That is one more of my favorite songs. This one is by Scorpions. I am able to experience the similar wind of change at many places.

1. CM of my state arranged a marathon meeting of ministers and evaluated their performance and goals for next 5 years. Though all the ministries were not covered, I feel it’s a good start..

2. Indian cricketers kept the fighting spirit alive till the last over in just concluded test match with SA. That was a surprising change.

And many more changes like this. Few at work place too. Hope they will all be positive!

My feelings can be summarized by these lines from Scorpions’ song ‘Winds of Change’:

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
in the wind of change

Walking down the street
Distant memories
Are buried in the past forever
I follow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
in the wind of change

PS: I feel that I like all the songs with some whistle piece in it. For e.g. ‘Winds of Change by Scorpions’, ‘Patience by GnR’, ‘Don’t worry be Happy by Bobby McFerrin’ and many more.

Oh My My!

(Not for kids ;))

Those near me have seen my love for food. I enjoy a variety of food and cooking as well. My family loves my experiments with cooking ;)

Similarly I enjoy watching Cooking Shows. The variety they show is really interesting. But many a times, the language constructs used by the host are really funny. For reference read these statements:

I will takeout MY bread from the oven.

Now I will take MY chicken and will add some spices and let it marinate for some time.

I will take MY eggs and will let them boil for sometime till they are half done.

I will break MY eggs and will add some sugar to it.

I will take MY mangoes and cut that juicy flesh and put it in blender with some ice.

Now I will cut MY banana into small chunks and add some sugar to it.

When u put ice in blender make sure the blades can handle it. MY blades can handle these chunks so I don’t have a problem.

AND MANY MORE LIKE THESE ;)

Oh come on!!! Is that just obsession for food or foolishness!

Hangover of 99 ;)

Just now finished watching Hangover and found it really really interesting. BTW i felt as if genre of 99 is also same ;)

They both are just amazing movies. Though would have loved to watch Hangover in theater rather than on comp just like 99.

Especially the 'Aaye hai baadasha' song from 99 sounded really great in theater and i felt that "Thirteen" would have been equally great song to watch on the big screen with that husky voice and those synchronized fountains at the stroke of "they just gave me a number when i was young" ;)

Would recommend everyone to watch both the movies: 99 (Hindi) and Hangover (English)

Just Shut up !!!

Got this

'Consider this conversation that took place in a TV show titled 'A morning with Farah' on ATV, a Pakistan channel. Sohail Tanvir, who helped the Rajasthan Royals win and got the highest number of wickets in the first IPL is being interviewed by another journalist while the glamorous hostess, Farah, looks on. Consider Tanvir's remark: 'Hinduon ki zahaniyat hi aisi hai (the Hindu nature is like that only)' the implication being that the Hindus have deliberately deceived and humiliated Pakistanis. The journalist responds with a remark about Indians being baniyas and says: 'bagal me chhuri/ muuh me Ram Ram' (they are ready to plunge a knife behind your back though they will keep saying Ram Ram). The gentleman with this shocking view of Indians in general and Hindus in particular then goes on about how India is tricking Pakistan out of hosting the World Cup next year.'

I would like to say, 'Tanvir just SHUT UP!!! Jiss thali me khaate hoo usamei cheed maat karoo'. Finally thanks ajit for sharing this link. Somehow i missed it.

H.R.

Every single time I hear that word, H.R., i feel confused! Humans as Resource???? May be we are really in Matrix ! :)

Here are few things that HRs feel are more important (but are they really?)

1. In-time and out-time (and not time spent in productive work)
2. head count (and not the brain that works)
3. cheap workforce (they feel they are only in terms of money, but ;) )

Will add more soon ;)
